Samsung Galaxy Note 8
Compare the best deals on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Loads of power, loads of screen space, and loads of special features, what more could you ask for in a top end phone? Think you're ready to handle this awesome phablet? Then check out the great deals on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 below.
The Note 8 is classic Samsung. You get soft curves, sleek lines, a slim profile, and that signature Infinity display that gently wraps around the front of the device, meaning the display is almost bezel-less. A glass and aluminium build makes this lightweight, and yet the Note 8 still feels firm and robust in the hand. You won’t be using this giant of a phone with one hand, but it’s a very good looking beast indeed.
Good looks alone just won’t cut it, but the Note 8 won’t let you down when it comes to performance, since this is one of the highest powered phones on the market. You get octo core processing power (a quad core 2.3 GHz and a quad core 1.7 GHz processor), and an incredible 6 GB of RAM alongside. That equals supreme speeds, mind blowing multi tasking, and instant responsiveness.
As a Samsung it should come as surprise that the Note 8 is an Android. Out of the box you’re getting Android 7.0 Nougat, which is as customisable and easy to use as you’d expect. However, Samsung top end phones are usually first in line to get OS updates, so an Android 8.0 Oreo update should be coming soon.
This is one of the top performing phones around. Even the most demanding of users will find that the Note 8 is more than capable of fulfilling their needs. If you want the best, you’ve found it.
It’s going to be the display here that’s the main selling point for most people, and it is incredible. You’re getting a huge 6.3 inch screen, which makes typing on screen a breeze and video watching a joy. And this is, of course, an Infinity display, meaning there are no side bezels to interrupt your viewing.
Resolution wise you’re getting 1440 x 2960 pixels, which works out to about 521 PPI. The Note 8 doesn’t have the highest resolution screen we’ve seen (though only a couple of mainline phones go bigger than this), but picture quality is crisp and clear. This is a Super AMOLED display too, giving close to perfect colour reproduction.
This display is simply breath taking. Whatever you’re doing, from simple surfing to high def video watching, you’ll be hard pressed to get a better view than the Note 8.
We expect great cameras from Samsung, and once again, the Note 8 delivers. At the front you’re looking at an 8 MP camera, which is fairly standard on high end phones these days. 8 MP is fine for selfies, video calling and the like.
Move around to the back though, and you’re getting a dual 12 MP camera (26 mm, f/1.7 aperture). That dual camera means better detail and finer images. Obviously you get all the normal features too, like dual LED flash, 2x optical zoom, simultaneous video and picture recording, auto focus, HDR, and all the rest.
If you’re an avid mobile photographer, then the cameras on the Note 8 are sure to please. Shots are bright, clear, and beautiful, and even the pros are going to love them.
The Note 8 is loaded down with special features, as you’d expect from a flagship phone, but there are a few we need to especially mention. You do get Bixby, Samsung’s digital assistant, and there’s a new dedicated side button to call Bixby up.
This is a stylus device, as most Notes are, and that stylus slides into the casing of the phone so it can’t be lost. The S Pen is now even more precise, and is full of neat tricks. You can translate, turn drawings into gifs, and even write when the screen is turned off.
There is a rear mounted fingerprint scanner here, but you’ll also get an iris scanner and face recognition unlock, so tons of security there. There’s wireless charging too, but a big 3300 mAh battery promises up to 22 hours of active use per charge.
The Bottom Line
This is one of the top performing phones around, and it’s beautiful. You get three options: 64 GB, 128 GB, or 256 GB of storage. There is an SD card slot on every model though, allowing you to add up to 256 GB of extra storage. If you want the best, if you’re a demanding user, if you love tech, then the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is going to be the phone for you.
